Gathering Spring

I am so impatient this time of year...I find myself short tempered, rushing around in circles, trying to do everything that spinning around in my head.... is it the wild anticipation of the most glorious of seasons,

There is still a chill in the air, although the sunshine is bright and the gorgeous green poking through the brown earth is invigorating...I look around for anything that will satisfy the hunger for the colours that are images of
Nature at this time of year!
I can hardly wait!

The robins have begun flitting about looking for mates, and already preening, then flying into our windows
when they see their image and waking me regularly every morning with the thudding against the panes!
They are very persistent!!!

The anticipation of all that green which is about to peek through gently, in the next little while...

This sweet handmade bag....pretty enough for a ladies Spring luncheon.....

a lovely lightly antiqued and distressed lamp, perfect for any corner looking for a soft Spring touch....

.....about to gather flowers from the garden, no doubt!

These beautifully wrapped beeswax candles with images of ladies who lunched, perhaps, some time ago!

Italian majolica cachepot, Spring colours at their best....

....small vintage, cottage look trays, pressed into use outdoors, when the weather is right for dining al fresco!!!
They are the perfect size to pull up to a garden chaise, or just as an extra table to set a drink or small plate.

Waiting to be placed outdoors, this small bird bath adds a touch of the garden to my kitchen....

I always plant herbs in pots in the garden, and parsley is a staple....

Hungry for green!!

A pretty chinz ware cachepot, an indication of the bounty from the garden.....
and the promise of what is to come....

All of Nature's gifts await us in just a few short weeks, here at home. I cannot plant my garden pots this year, as there will be much work done outdoors near the beds, so I must practise restraint and especially patience, until the renovation is completed. I will be working on the beds and borders farther away from the foundation of the house....I have already ordered some old roses, and planted more peonies....I will keep you posted.

I wish everyone  a Happy Easter, and thank every one of you, for your kind and generous comments on my superfluous ramblings and observations!

  1. Hi Nella!

I completely feel your pain! Spring fever rushes over me every year too-- usually around January or February making winter seem FOREVER AND A DAY!!! I was fortunate this year: spring arrived early and we have had the most glorious warm weather and have set my spirits aflutter! I'll cross my fingers that it will hurry a little for you too.

Thank you for visiting my blog! I'm so glad you are a fellow ivy-lover. I'm looking forward to going through your old posts and seeing all your beautiful photos and seeing new ones of your garden as well.

    Enjoy your Easter weekend!

    Your newest follower,

  2. Dear Nella, Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!. Every photograph, every vignette absolutely gorgeous.
I'm also anxious for Spring. The apricot blossoms are out and it was 16 degrees the other morning.
    Happy Easter. Gina

  5. Everything is so beautiful Nella. I spied that gorgeeous ruffled cake plate amidst all the loveliness.
Spring also brings the outdoor markets and auctions...
Wishing you and yours a blessed Easter.
    Hope to see you soon.

  7. What a lovely post. I love everything but the cachet pot caught my eye and the satee. I love toile. Beautiful pictures.

  8. This post is incredible. I have never seen anything like that green handbag, it's insanely adorable. I think you need to fine a little shop that sells ice cream cones, and a beautiful spot to sit and people watch while you enjoy it. Ice cream in a cone (has to be in a cone) is a medicine that turns any day from impatient and hurried to the calm and relaxed.
    Trust me . . . . spring and ice cream . . . that's the ticket. Connie :)

  9. So much pretty here :) I'm off today and heading out to get a few last minute things for Sunday. I love all your spring colors, the toile, and the bunny at top!

Enjoy your weekend and have a wonderful Easter!

  20. Hi Nella,

Thank you so much for your heartfelt comment on my most recent post. I used to view gardens as a luxury. During hard times, I have resorted to beautiful gardens, either real or vividly imagined, as a respite and have come to regard them as a necessity. My garden does not yet really qualify for the word. Backyard is really more appropriate. But I'm enjoying the process of gradually turning into something lovely.

Thank you again! I hope your weekend is wonderful.

  21. Hello Nella, you have gorgeous spring inspiring images here...I adore the lady lamp....the pink cup with gold ...oh just all of it! Have fun preparing for your Spring season..Colette xx

  25. Thanks Nella,
I appreciate your comments... We Italians, we're all alike.... Ha ha. Che bello

  26. Oh that tea cup really makes my heart jump!!!!

Nella, you have become a kindred spirit, for your comments are filled with sincere sweetness and your art is pure. THANK YOU for your visit and beautiful embrace. We are all lights on the stormy seas....sometimes however, our flicker becomes dim due to fatigue, but we shall find our way for each of us has the ability to hear the silence...peace to you and have a CREATIVE DAY! 30. Oh Nella,

Your words mean a lot to me, as I see how YOUR ART is so beautiful and well-developed. I only anticipate as I have more time that I will be able to really shape my art vision AND MOST OF ALL,my writing. I thank you kindly for entering into Karena's means a lot to me that anyone would want to! That little wand is my FIRST of its kind and since then, truly, I have made more that are of a much better design (the wings literally did NOT take off for people!!!!) BUT KARENA likes it and I truly hope that whoever wins it will enjoy it. It is pretty in person!

Thank you for visiting my blog..... I love to hear from you and appreciate every comment received! N.xo
